Hi I've got a Lenovo Thinkpad recently acquired from Ebay. The Seller has installed some crap called ' Windows 7 Extreme Edition R1'. When I run slmgr /dlv it tells me its kosher Windows R(7), OEMSLP channel - but the OS properties and splash screen tell me its Windows Extreme Edition R1.

( 32 bit of course) Windows Genuine Advantage software does not see this as a fake; so I'm guessing the boot sector MBR is seriously modified at install. MSE doesn't detect anything either. Yes, they are one in the same, and both trusthworthy from Microsoft. Do you have a COA sticker on the machine with the licensed Win7 version printed on it? If not the seller should have given you one which shows it is Genuine retail Win7 with a Product Key to reinstall.
